PROGRAMME
OVERVIEW

CIP addresses Tier Two and Three behavioural infractions, repeated offenders, and students on the brink of expulsion. Through structured interventions, students are exposed to a culturally relevant, sport-based development model that emphasizes positive behaviour reinforcement.

Students are encouraged to reframe their attitudes towards school, education, and future career paths, particularly in cricket-related fields.

Goals & Objectives

The primary goal of the CIP is to facilitate positive behavioural change and to maximize the potential of each participant. Through cricket, a sport rich with tradition and discipline, students are taught:​

  • Teamwork, tolerance and leadership
     

  • Personal and school safety
     

  • Values Clarification

    Other fundamental skills taught are: study skills, culturally relevant anecdotes on positive choices and behaviour, self care, Jamaican Heritage, the importance of responsible stewardship and food preparation.

By embedding these principles, students develop a strong moral compass, preparing them for academic success, sporting opportunities, and responsible citizenship.

Participant Selection & Training

Selection Criteria

  • Ages 13–19
     

  • Tier Two and Three infractions or multiple suspensions
     

  • Nominations and recommendations by Principal, Guidance Counsellor or Heads of Departments and the Dean’s knowledge of the issues
     

  • Inclusion of student leaders (prefects, peer counsellors, security monitors)
     

  • Voluntary applicants are welcomed to broaden inclusivity from the community and student population

Training Schedule

Participants are continuously monitored, and progress reports are kept to track improvements across academic, social, and behavioural metrics.

  • Post-lunch training sessions
     

  • Full-day workshops and competitions
     

  • Weekend extension camps coordinated with the Director of Youth Development, Cornwall County, Jamaica Cricket Association and at the community  personnels
     

  • Cricket pitch support for participating schools when needed

Recognition & Advancement

Students who complete the programme are rewarded with:

  • Certificates and trophies
     

  • Public recognition and celebrations
     

  • Opportunities to join parish or national youth cricket squads
     

  • Increased eligibility for external academic and sporting opportunities
